Last Friday, June 23rd, the Faculty of Economics hosted of a successful academic event of international importance. Within the traditional scientific conference Regional Development and Demographic Flows of Southeastern European Countries, a panel of experts in the field of urban development was organized. The panel titled: Smart and Resilient Urban Development – Facing the Challenges was moderated by one of the leading Serbian economists – professor Pavle Petrović. The panel gathered the leading world academics specializing in the field of smart and resilient urban development, who presented the latest research in the field to the international audience consisting of numerous researchers, ph.d students and practitioners. The presented topics included:

Prof. Peter Nijkamp (Open University Netherlands): Cityphilia and Cityphobia: A multi-scalar search for urban happiness
Prof. Dušan Teodorović (SASA): Urban Traffic Congestion
The Conference was opened by two keynote speakers:

A special UR-DATA session Urban Development and Smart Cities was held at the Conference, bringing together the researchers from the UR-DATA project consortium (FEUN, Oslomet and Poliedra), who presented the latest research results in the field. The session consisted of 19 presentations by more than 40 authors, the most successful of which will be selected for a special edition of Urban Book Series by Springer.
A number of social events were organized on the margins of the conference, that researchers and participants from different countries used for networking and future project planning.
