On 11 and 12 July 2022 Faculty of Economics, University of Niš (FEUN) hosted the Kick-off meeting of the UR-DATA project. The meeting was organized in a hybrid form, with both live and online presence of the participants, and the activities took place for two days.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of the project beneficiaries. Simona Muratori, researcher and project manager at POLIEDRA, John Östh, professor of Urban Analytics at OSLOMET, as well as the researchers and team members from FEUN, under the coordination of Jelena Stanković, project coordinator and professor at FEUN.
An active participation in the meeting was taken by the members of the Scientific Advisory Board: Pavle Petrović, professor emeritus at Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade, Serbia; Jason Papathanasiou, professor at the Department of Business Administration at University of Macedonia, Greece and Carlo Sessa, Research Director of the institute ISINNOVA.
Insights
Valuable insights and recommendations have been offered by the Project officer – Cristina Marcone. The representatives of Serbian Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, City of Niš, Telekom Serbia and University of Rijeka have also significantly contributed to the meeting activities.
After the presentation of the project partners, their research capacities and main competences, the Project coordinator Jelena Stanković presented work packages in details and introduced the partners with the responsibilities in the forthcoming period, such as conference attendance, workshops, summer schools. Precise actions were agreed with the representatives of the partners.
Visual identity
The visual identity of the project, developed for the purpose of the project dissemination, exploitation and communication activities was presented and the partners agreed on the project logo that will represent visual identity of the UR-DATA project during its lifetime.
Also, the draft version of the Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication plan was presented, announcing numerous targeted activities.
On the second day of the meeting, the main bodies of the project were discussed. The proposed members of the Scientific Advisory Board have been confirmed and the General Assembly members have been elected. The Ethical Advisory Board (EAB) was constituted and its members elected.
At the General Assembly meeting, an action plan for the first year of the project realization was adopted. The forthcoming special issue of the FEUN’s journal Economics Themes was discussed. Participants discussed the future conferences, meetings, summer schools and agreed on the tasks to be performed in the upcoming one-year period.
The FEUN team members have presented the project management tools, explained the administrative aspects of the project and introduced the financial aspects.
During the kick-off meeting local (TV Bellamie an KCN) and national TV channels (B92 and PRVA) were present and took interviews from project members. The event has attracted a lot of media and public attention.

On the margins of this two-day event, various social activities have been taking place. Meeting participants attended the city tour through Niš, visited main local historical localities and monuments such as National Museum of City of Niš, Memorial complex “12th February” and Skull tower.
Through this tour they got familiar with target points of all tourist visits and tourist mobility while staying in Niš.
